Acne scarring

Acne scarring occurs when an inflammatory lesion in the hair follicle ruptures damaging the dermis layer. The skin tissue is destroyed and replaced by fibrous tissue. Acne lesions can also leave red or hyper-pigmented marks on the skin. Treatment is chosen depending on the severity and type of acne scarring, generally involving skin needling, dermal fillers, microdermabrasions and skin peels to accelerate the collagen to assist in elevating and removing the scarring.

Age spots

Pesky age spots start appearing on the face, décolletage, back of hands and arms over time, caused mostly by sun damage.  Depending on the type of pigmentation, they are easily treated and removed/faded with 1 – 3 IPL sessions monthly apart. The pigment is heated to cause disruption of the cells and appear darker immediately.  After day 3 they look like milo has been flicked over the treated area, then there is a micro peel over day 5-6 (body takes twice as long)

Ageing skin

Everybody’s skin ages, and depending on our diet, lifestyle and sun exposure the skin becomes loose saggy and blemished. This process can easily be slowed down by apply SPF sunscreen daily to prevent sun damage and use a good quality skincare range such as Ultraderm to help keep the skin gorgeous with a healthy glow. Anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers will reduce wrinkles.  IPL Skin Rejuvenation is a popular and effective treatment for ageing skin to even out skin tone and rejuvenate the skin, used in combination with LED Light Therapy which will repair and hydrate your skin making you look younger.

Broken Capillaries

Broken Capillaries (telangiectasia rosacea), also known as Spider Veins, are a very common skin concern and can be a little difficult to treat.  Capillaries are the small veins just below the surface of the skin. The small red/purple veins become prominent when the vein walls dilate, and are visible through the skin. This can occur anywhere on the body, but is most common across the cheeks and nose, and on the legs.  There are many causes for broken capillaries, however crossing your legs is not one of them.

• Weakness in the vein wall

• Sun exposure

• Genetics

• High consumption of alcohol

• Cold extremes of temperature

• Harsh physical contact

Broken Capillaries are effectively treated with laser by heating and dispersing the vessel. This in turn is absorbed by your lymphatic system and may take up to 4 weeks to see the full results.
The treatment is safe, relatively pain-free and effective.

Fine lines

As we get older, the production of collagen and elastin in the skin naturally slows down. This contributes to loss of suppleness and elasticity. You can significantly slow the clock down with a few choices of treatments and an appropriate skin rejuvenation regime.

Book in for a free skin consultation with our professional skin Therapists,  to determine the best course of treatments to reduce fine lines and to repair your skin.

A diligent combined routine of active, cosmeceutical products and regular skin treatments is the best way to slow down and, in some cases, even reverse the signs of ageing. We offer a number of advanced skin treatments which can help prevent and reduce the signs of ageing, we’ve detailed these below.

The sun is the number one factor contributing to ageing skin. Always use sunscreen.  Use powerful, fresh cosmeceutical skincare products and regularly perform a diligent routine ensuring your skin gets nourishing ingredients.

Maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle. Eat healthy, fresh food and get out into the fresh air regularly. This helps keep not just your skin, but your mind and body youthful too.

LED Light Therapy can activate and promote collagen production and increase the rate of skin cell renewal. Enhanced collagen production greatly reduces wrinkles and improves the overall texture of the epidermis, resulting in a more youthful, radiant appearance and texture.

Professional Peels are a fast, effective and affordable skin treatment for immediate cell renewal and a refreshed, clear complexion.

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Skin Rejuvenation is far more than just a revolutionary approach to permanent hair removal. This light-based skin stimulating therapy is a highly effective treatment to promote reproduction of cells in the dermal layers of the skin. The rapid production of new skin cells promotes a natural boost in collagen and elastin causing your skin to look rejuvenated and feel firmer.

Skin Needling is also known as collagen induction therapy and is extremely effective at reducing the signs of ageing, softening fine lines and improving overall skin texture. Less intrusive and with far less downtime than other resurfacing treatments,

Ingrown hairs

Ingrown hairs occur when a hair grows sideways or curls back into the skin. It can present as a small red bump, a curly hair that comes out of the skin and then re-enters it, or a larger, pus-filled sore.

There are a variety of causes for ingrown hairs. The most common include shaving and waxing, although ingrown hairs can occur for absolutely no reason. Darker skin types and people with curly hair tend to experience ingrown hairs more often. To keep your skin clear after shaving or waxing, use a highly effective, all-natural product.

The main symptoms of ingrown hairs include itchiness and tenderness at the site. Inflammation can also occur, which appears as red or pink bumps on the skin. The bumps can become infected and pus-filled, particularly as the hair grows back after shaving and the condition worsens.

The most effective treatment for hair removal is using Laser technology.

Large Pores

Laser pore tightening is quick, painless, highly effective procedure that works by penetrating deep into the skin’s dermal layer to stimulate new collagen formation. The new collagen formation plumps up your skin, which will tighten skin and reduce pore size.

After the first treatment, you may feel like your face is a bit tighter, but you won’t see any noticeable difference until after several sessions. It takes about six months for the new collagen to activate, so you will continue to see improvement in your complexion and pore size for six months after treatment.

We recommend a series of 6 treatments then, you can continue with 3 monthly maintenance treatments, or you can wait until after six months to see if you would like additional improvement.

Red and white dots on the neck is a skin condition called Poikliaderma and can be caused by perfume, sun damage and or hormonal changes.  It is a vascular skin condition and can be treated by Laser and possibly requires 4 to 6 treatments monthly apart

Uneven skin pigmentation is very common across all skin colours, skin types, and ethnic backgrounds, and can be caused by a number of reasons including exposure to sunlight, hormonal changes, skin inflammation or damage, and genetic conditions. The cause of most irregular skin pigmentation is by either an over or under production of melanin in the body.

Exposure to sunlight also causes our skin to produce more melanin in an attempt to protect the skin. As melanin production increases, our skin will begin to tan and darken.

Types of Skin Pigmentation

Freckles are caused by small clusters of concentrated melanin which darken once they are exposed to more sunlight. Although freckles can occur on any skin colour, it is more commonly found on people with fair skin complexions, and light or red hair.

Liver Spots/Age Spots

Liver spots, also known as solar lentigos, are a form of skin pigmentation most associated with ageing and exposure to UV light. This is most common in people over the age of 40, as our skin begins to lose its ability to repair damage caused by sun/UV exposure. Liver spots are most commonly found on areas of skin most exposed to the sun - hands, arms, face and back, and are characterised by uneven patches of light brown to black skin pigment.

Melasma is most commonly found in women who are pregnant, using the contraceptive pill, or receiving hormone replacement therapy. Melasma is believed to be caused by over activation of melanocytes by the female sex hormones; estrogen and progesterone. This activation subsequently causes an increase in melanin production when the skin is exposed to sunlight. Melasma will develop gradually and is most commonly found on the cheek, nose, lips, and forehead.

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation results from increased melanin production due to an inflammatory response. Inflammation is caused when trauma occurs at the dermal or epidermal layers of the skin, and can be due to a number of reasons including acne, dermatitis, skin injury, infections, allergic reactions, medications, or certain diseases.

Treatments For Skin Pigmentation

Treatment for pigmentation relies on many factors including the type of pigmentation, cause of the pigmentation, and the layer of skin in which the pigmentation occurs.

Rosacea is a common skin condition that results in a ‘blush’ or redness that typically involves the central region of the face, mainly the forehead, cheeks, chin and lower half of the nose.

The redness in rosacea, often aggravated by flushing, may cause superficial blood vessels in the face to dilate and become visible through the transparency of the skin resulting in facial veins.

Continual or repeat episodes of flushing and ‘blush’ may promote inflammation, causing pustules and papules to develop.

Symptoms usually commence between the ages of 30 to 50.

The signs of Rosacea are:Redness of the face or cheeks (Erythema)
A tendency to flushing or blushing
Dilated blood vessels (Telangiectasia)
Acne like skin eruptions (Inflammatory pustules and papules)
Burning sensation on the face

The cause of Rosacea is unknown and it cannot be cured but its symptoms can be controlled to improve the appearance.

Avoidance of triggering stimuli including heat, vigorous exercise, alcohol consumption, spicy foods, hot beverages (particularly caffeine) and rubbing the affected skin helps control symptoms partially.

Laser and light therapy offers gold standard treatment of these unwanted symptoms

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) for the treatment of superficial diffuse redness and smaller blood vessels.
KTP 532nm LP Laser for the treatment of larger bright red discrete blood vessels.
Nd Yag 1064nm LP Laser for the treatment of larger purple/blue discrete blood vessels and the treatment of flushing.

Saggy skin

Often a facelift for saggy skin will change your features, especially the shape of your eyes.  Many people are now opting out of invasive facial surgery for a lower risk non invasive surgery.  Sagging skin needs to become healthier firstly then revolumisation with dermal fillers assists in achieving a fuller more youthful aprearance.  Sutures using keyhole surgery may be appropriate to lift and re-position cheek tissue.

Skin care

Consistency may be the key with skin care routines, but if you aren’t using retinol, retinoids or Vitamin A, you should be. It is now recognized as being scientifically proven to be anti-ageing topically on the skin.
Research shows that these vitamin-A derivatives speed cell turnover and collagen growth to smooth fine lines, re-balance oil glands and fade brown spots.
Vitamin A skin care helps with acne because it has the ability to get into pores and unclog them and retinoids make your skin look brighter.

Sensitive skin

Sensitive skin is usually red, so always apply a product in downward strokes to promote proper lymphatic drainage. This helps to calm skin, reduce redness and take down inflammation. Reduce inflammation with cold light LED therapy and help rebuild the skins resistance with a good skin care to calm the skin.
Use scrubs sparingly, eat loads of veges as poor digestion can often exacerbate the problem and go lightly on retinols.
Other factors that may contribute to sensitive skin is stress, taking long hot showers, not getting enough sleep, eating processed carbs and weather extremes.  A good skin care range can assist in de-sensitising the skin.
