Laser Hair Treatments

Progressive, permanent hair removal is a very effective way to rid yourself of unwanted body hair, leaving, beautiful, smooth hairless skin.

How does it Work?
The Laser works by projecting a beam of light that penetrates through the upper layers of the skin to the hair follicle. The laser is calibrated to target the pigment (melanin) in the growing hair. The light energy is converted into heat and destroys the hair without damaging the surrounding tissue.
The aim is to destroy the hair follicle by heating it to 70 degrees whilst it is in the anagen phase without heating the surrounding tissue.
There are 3 phases of hair growth. In the anagen phase, the papilla (blood supply) is attached to the follicle, in the telegan phase it is not attached, so the laser will not destroy the hair in this phase. After a laser session the hair remains dormant for 2 weeks, then the hair falls out and new hair grows back in the anagen phase, that’s why we rebook in 6 weeks for the body and 4 weeks for the face so that most hair is destroyed in the anagen phase and the best results are achieved.

Laser is a direct beam of light energy and IPL is a flashlight (like a lightbulb) of energy.
The laser wavelength targets specific cromophores, in this case dark hair. The base of the hair follicle resides at a depth of 755 nano meters in the skin
At BMS we have 2 laser wavelengths to choose from for hair removal, the 755 nano meters and 1064 nano meters. The 755 nm is designed to specifically destroy light to dark hair and 1064nm is designed for darker skin tones and may need more treatments.

The cooling device of the laser is an important aspect of the laser design. At BMS our American, medical grade laser is designed by engineers with a chilled tip at 4 degrees to give maximum comfort to the client.

Does it Hurt?
When the pulse of light is delivered, some patients experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. No local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required.

How many treatments do I need?
Most areas require 6-8 treatments, depending on hair thickness, the area treated and your hair's growth cycle.

Laser hair removal for men and women is proven to be the safest and most effective way to eliminate unwanted hair without the unnecessary side effects that shaving and waxing can cause.

What to do next?

The American medical grade laser at Beachside Medi Spa is super effective for light brown fine hair to thick black hair on any skin type for progressive hair reduction. It is a true laser with 1064 & 755 nm ability.

For best results we require you to do a test patch first. If you have previously waxed or plucked the area, let it grow back until the hair shows above the skin. Shave a small area the night before, (under arms or a 4 cm square patch on the face or wherever you are wanting hair reduction). Make an appointment online under Hair Laser for a FREE test patch. When you come in for the test patch we will ensure you don’t have any contraindications then explain how it works, what the risks are and the aftercare. Make an appointment online for the Hair laser treatment 24 hours later .
